Privacy Policy

Your data, plainly explained.

This applies to the Harmonetics Study Bible, both this website and the native iOS app.

Overview

Harmonetics Study Bible is a Bible study tool built by The Compass Institute. This policy explains what information we collect when you use it, why, and how you can remove it. We collect the minimum needed to sync your notes and highlights across your devices, and nothing more. We do not run ads, sell data, or use third-party trackers or analytics of any kind.

Information We Collect

Account information. If you create an account to sync your notes and highlights across devices, we collect your email address and a password. Your password is handled entirely by our authentication provider, Supabase, using industry-standard hashing; we never see or store it in readable form.

Your notes and highlights. Verse notes, word notes, highlight colors, section notes, and any "Deep Dive" conversations you choose to save are stored under your account so they sync across your devices. This content is yours; we don't read it for any purpose other than delivering the sync feature itself.

AI Assistant API keys. The AI Assistant feature is bring-your-own-key: you supply your own Claude (Anthropic) or ChatGPT (OpenAI) API key. That key is stored only on your device, in Apple's Keychain. It is never sent to us, never stored on our servers, and never synced between your devices. When you ask a question, your device sends it directly to your chosen provider using your own key; we are not a party to that exchange and don't see the contents of it.

What we don't collect. We don't collect your location, contacts, photos, or device identifiers for advertising. We don't use analytics SDKs or third-party trackers of any kind.

How We Use Information

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.

Third-Party Services

Supabase hosts our authentication and database, storing your account and your synced notes/highlights on our behalf, under its own data-processing and security practices.

Your AI provider (Anthropic or OpenAI) only comes into the picture if you choose to use the AI Assistant, and only through your own API key, with traffic going directly from your device to their servers, not through ours.

Bible text sources (including bolls.life and helloao.org) are used to fetch translation text and never receive any information that identifies you.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your account data is kept for as long as your account exists. You can permanently delete your account at any time, from within the app (account menu → Delete Account) or the website. Deleting your account removes your account record and all synced notes/highlights from our database immediately; this cannot be undone.

Children's Privacy

Harmonetics Study Bible is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider, not stored by us in readable form. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable, industry-standard measures to protect your information.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Harmonetics Study Bible after a change means you accept the updated policy.
